That white door. It is really a very warm, off-white, but somehow it seemed to be a big blank WHITE spot on that wall every time I looked that way. This week I painted it.
I like this better. Feels warmer to me. I left the molding off-white. I like that crisp little detail, but the whole door was too much. I considered painting the door the same color as the wall, only a bit darker. I think I would like that too. Maybe I'll get tired of the green door some day and do that. Meanwhile, I am humming, and bopping along to this song. Of course there was another famous green door, but we won't go there.
Wonder what's what's behind my green door? Well, it hardly lives up to the song. It is, sadly, not "an old piano and they play it hot."
Laundry. Recycling.
Perfect. Seriously, what an amazing difference! The palette is so warm.
ReplyDeleteHa ha - you are a funny gal!!! Aren't little projects around the house that actually get done just the best???
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with laundry and recycling. ;-)
ReplyDeleteJust think what the house would look/smell like without it!
First I wasn't so sure about the green; then I considered the FengShui side of it. According to this, white can hurt the eye indeed. It is metal element (white or grey) which is already represented by the fridge door. This, together with the red tiles, created a tension. To reconcile the colours, there was the earth tone of the wall and the black slate. What was missing? Wood element! Green! You could hardly have made a better choice, according to the Chinese 5 Elements teachings.
ReplyDeleteAmazing what a little paint will do!
ReplyDeleteColor makes all the difference in the world! I love the contrast of the green door and the white woodwork. And I didn't even notice the red tile floor in the first picture. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks better. It just seems to fit, now. I have a few things I keep meaning to paint around here, for a better fit!
ReplyDeleteThe green is gorgeous.
ReplyDeletethank you
