Trader Joe's is one of my favorite places to shop. They have a lot of really delicious stuff. So it pains me to tell you this.

Tonight we had Trader Joe's "roasted garlic basil encrusted cod fillets," from the frozen food section. Sounds good, doesn't it? I love roasted garlic. I love basil. While cod is not my favorite fish, I have been known to enjoy it. This cod was vile. I may never be able to eat cod again. Or garlic. Or basil. Blechhhhhh

Consider yourselves warned.

'Scuse me now. I need to go gargle a bottle of something.

  1. Eeeuw. Thanks for the warning!

  2. I'm sorry for the culinary disaster, but I have to say the photo you chose is making me laugh loud enough I'm worried about waking my daughter in the other room!

  3. Please, no! There's always something from Trader Joe floating around the house and I tend to wear a Hawaiian shirt so to fit in when I go to the store.

But I must admit that their hot and sour soup resembles an oriental take on Franco-American chicken gravy. I love my hot and sour as you do your cod and it pains me to have to report this.

I am curious about whether it was the fish or the condiment that was so bad. I have tried this same product before and found that the spices on the outside were overwhelming and had to scrape them off to eat the fish, but found the fish to be o.k.
Sorry this had to have happened. We have some of their tuna fillets in the freezer and I hope they turn out better.
