Do turkeys have eyelashes?

According to my granddaughter, Sofia, everything that has eyes has eyelashes. She is probably right.

Together, today, we made this turkey to decorate our Thanksgiving table. Design concept by Grandma, execution by Sofia.

As a kid I so loved making stuff and things that could be appreciated by the whole family were the best. I think I generally had a hand in the decorating of the Thanksgiving table. At age four one can hardly make a pie or mash potatoes, but in families, like ours, where the crafty gene runs strong, even the little guys can contribute to the feast.

I hope you all have a handmade turkey on your table.

  1. Sofia's turkey looks wonderful. Yes, we had fancy folded paper napkins, turkey pinecone center piece and then baby turkey pinecone place cards at the kid's table. My Gram had a list of activities for the four of us. Smart lady! Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. You need to teach us how to make those sturdy turkey legs. I am home today--it's snowing and I don't want to be out on the roads. I called work and said I would be there sometime, but not sure if that is true. Others have already called out. I always feel like a slacker when I don't go to work, but that's crazy, isn't it?

I made something very similar about, oh 23 years ago. My mom still drags out the turkey pinecones every year even though they are a little worse for wear. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  6. Hi, I'm from eastern Oregon, Cove, to be exact. I went to a quilting site,http://quiltinggallery.com/quilting-bloggers/results.asp and typed in Oregon, and now I'm going to all the Oregon blog sites. I feel a kinship to fellow Oregonians. I have a blog site with only 8 followers. I just ordered a real camera, have been using my cell phone camera, and hope that my pics will look more professional. Please join my blog. It's www.mylifeasaquilter.blogspot.com. Thanks!
