The new 12 x 12 piece

This is my new Twelve by Twelve piece, using the colors of blue, brown and sage. It was great fun to make, since it is a remake of an earlier quilt in a newer style and whole new color scheme. Go to the Twelve by Twelve blog for the whole story and to see what everyone else came up with .

The bird is my favorite part of the whole thing.

  1. I love how it turned out...it is amazing how just a tweak her or there can make a difference.

  2. Resisting the gratuitous Portlandia reference. Lovely piece. If I remember the earlier one correctly, it had a much darker and more "controlled" feeling.

  3. Lovely bird. Lovely quilt. The spray of outline leaves pulls it all together - clever.

  9. You did a very nice job of "ruffling his feathers"! Thank you for sharing your thought process, where we all win. I want to think like an artist.

  10. Nicely done Terry. This bird is so sweet. You may remember how much I love the original. It's nice to see another version in softer colors although I still adore the original.

The binding looks so smooth and crisp. How did you do that?
