First day of spring

Officially that was last week, but in a practical sense it was today. Sofia spent the afternoon with us (it is Spring Break here) and we stepped outside to talk to Ray, who was weeding and puttering around, and found it so agreeable that we stayed. We walked around the yard looking at flowers and mushrooms, listening to the frogs sing. It is supposed to be nice through the end of the week. We may even be able to have an Easter egg hunt outdoors this year.

Sofia discovered a hopscotch pattern in our paving stones out front.

  1. So cute! I love your stepping stones. Sofia brought back memories of hopscotch. I wonder where my lucky chain is? Have a wonderful weekend.

  2. I love seeing pictures of you and Sophia hanging out -- it reminds me so much of time spend with my own grandmothers. Our tulips haven't bloomed yet, but we've got crocus and daffodils, so we're not far behind you!

  3. Love the walkway. We have sunshine and warmth but still lots of snow to melt. Your post gives me hope...it is coming.

  4. It looks like a beautiful day in Portland. I love seeing your photos of Sofia. In this past year, you can see how she has left the era of baby/toddler/little girl looks for good. She has become a beautiful girl. A springtime blossom that girl is.

I'm pretty sure you blogged about those pretty pavers - where did you find them?

    1. I did blog about them here: http://andsewitgoes.blogspot.com/2009/03/march-came-in-like.html We made them using plastic molds. The molds are from http://www.gardenmolds.com/ They have the nicest molds I have seen. You can buy them at several shops around the Portland area. The shops are listed on the web site. Fun and easy to make.
